In case we haven't met yet, allow me to take just a moment to introduce myself quickly. I live on a 435 acre farm with my wife Colette and have over 28 years of active property investment experience..
Like many people, I first started out in life by getting an education and finding a job. In my case, I became a chartered accountant and found myself showing other people how and where they were making THEIR money.
Despite the fact that I had spent 4 years at university and another 2 years obtaining my chartered accounting qualification, I came home to my wife one day and told her that I'd had enough! We needed to find a way to make our money work for us, so we could enjoy a better lifestyle, travel more often and spend more time with our 3 beautiful children.
I'm sure you've probably felt that way too, right?
…So after discovering that many of the world's richest people made their fortunes through property investing, I invested hundreds of thousands of dollars, countless hours and stacks of energy into learning, studying and going out there and having a go…
All the same, I know what it's like when you're finding it tough to get started. When I wanted to buy my very first 2 bedroom property investment in Allawah, Sydney over 28 years ago, I was earning just $9,000 a year and my wife was earning around $6,000.
We wanted to buy the unit for $33,000, but the bank didn't want to lend us the money. They didn't want to take my wife's income into account because they thought she might fall pregnant (and she did! – but that's another story :)
It was tough in those early days and I had to overcome obstacles just like I'm sure you've had to before. The thing is though, I stuck with it and succeeded and now I want to make it easier for you to do the same, by sharing with you what I've learnt along the way.
