Don’t fall in love with it

Have you ever ‘fallen in love’ with a property or property investment idea?

Have you ever researched a real estate investment, struck problems and not wanted to walk away because you’ve put in such a lot of effort?

If you have, I can understand. I once ‘fell in love’ with a waterfront property in Sydney. It’s human nature to become emotionally involved in what we do - but this can be financially disastrous.

The thing is when you become emotionally involved it’s easy to forget that there’s always another good real estate investment around the corner.

Often investors, even experienced ones, make the critical mistake of falling in love with a property deal or property investment, even when the numbers don’t stack up.

To avoid making this critical mistake just remember that there are always more property investment opportunities out there.

In fact, there are so many real estate investment opportunities that even if you wanted to, you couldn’t make use of them all.

It’s a big market!

I’ve seen it myself. There have been times when I’ve been disappointed to see a real estate investment deal fall over, only to pick up something shortly after.

I was very happy that I didn’t tie up my money with an average real estate investment deal when a great one was just around the corner.

It’s important to buy an investment property based on the numbers, not your emotions.

Keep this tip in mind when you’re searching for your next property investment.

Warm Regards

Yes it was helpful as i have recently fallen in love with a property that is not such a good deal and keep hassling my husband to buy it. This email has made me rethink about it.

Thankyou for your email- I have made huge mistakes with property purely out of ignorance and believing the wrong people- right now I’m starting to educate myself on the right way to invest. I know for sure it has to be through positive cash flow. I’m trying to gain the knowledge so that I can make informed decisions myself instead of listening to some fancy property shark.

Thanks Hans, I appreciate your words of wisdom. I was just in this
situation yesterday, looking at a property that had won my heart so much
that my head was not getting a word in. Thanks for your timely insight.
